Sodus Chamber of Commerce membership is open to individuals, businesses and organizations in and around Sodus. The Sodus Chamber of Commerce is planning on a very active year for 2012. All the programs and events are open the public but we asked that you call to reserve a space at 315-598-3818. Thursday, Feb 2’s meeting will be at Nick’s Family Restaurant starting at 6 and we will “meet and eat” to discuss the upcoming year’s events. On March 1th we will host a discussion on estate planning at the Reliant’s Sodus branch with dinners from Pop’s House (reservations needed and there will be a nominal cost). The annual Citizen of the Year Banquet will be held on April 20, along with the Scholarship raffle. Recommendations for the Citizen of the Year may be sent (in writing) to the Chamber at any time but the deadline is March 5. The Chamber is also interested in suggestions for the Milestone award for local businesses. The winners will be selected and announced on March 20.
The May meeting will be held at the Sodus Community Library Annex on Maple Ave starting at 6:00 pm. and will feature updates on local issues. Cost is $5.00 per person for pizza and salad. June’s meeting on the 7th will be a tour of the Dynalec Corp. on Main Street followed by dinner.
There will be no meeting in July for the general membership but the Board of Directors will be meeting at Cobblestone Kennels for an old fashioned picnic. The August 4th meeting will be for a summer fun at the Sodus Point Lighthouse for a picnic with everyone bringing a dish to pass. September 6, we will meet at Bubba’s Roadhouse 6:00 pm to discuss plans for Harvest Fest.
The Harvest Fest is the largest event and is scheduled for Saturday, September 29th
at the Sodus School Track and Field. Many new ideas from last year will be incorporated and the Chamber is now accepting vendor applications. Requests for applications may be found on the web site or by calling the Chamber.
The annual elections will be held at the November 1st meeting to be held at Blossom View Nursing and Rehab, and the year will end with another great Christmas party on December 4th at Captain Jack’s.
