The Sodus Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Alice and Ron Bill have been chosen as the 2011 Citizen of the Year. Alice and Ron live in Sodus Point. Among some of the organizations they contribute time and effort to would be the Neighborhood Association of Sodus Point, the Sodus Point Volunteer Fire Department, the Sodus Bay Historical Society and the Friends of the Library; volunteering is just so much a part of their lives. The Chamber is also pleased to have selected two separate groups for the 2011 Milestone Award. The Sodus Rotary is celebrating 75 years of service to our community and the First United Presbyterian Church is celebrating 200 years of service to their congregation and our community.
The public is invited to attend the banquet to honor Alice and Ron, our Milestone recipients along with the 2011 Sodus Rotary Agribusiness winners Jacob and Steven Datthyn. The banquet will be held on April 20, 2012 at the Sodus Bay Heights Restaurant. The celebration starts at 6:30 pm with cocktails, followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. Dinner tickets for the steamship round buffet are advanced sale only and are $25.00 per person. They are available at Fox Law Office, Main St. (483-6733), Sodus Curves, Maple Ave, (483-1222), or by contacting the Chamber at 315-576-3818. Deadline for ticket sales will be 4/13/12 and no tickets will be available at the door.
The Chamber will also be drawing the winners of the Scholarship raffle throughout the evening (but you need not be present to win). All proceeds from the raffle go towards scholarships to benefit graduating Sodus students. Over $13,000 in scholarships has been awarded since 2003 and this year it is our hope to raise even more. Raffle tickets are three for $10.00 and are available from any Chamber member and the dozens of items are on display at Curves on Maple Ave.
