Village of Sodus
Planning Board
January 18, 2011
Members present: Don O’Neil, David Englert, Mary Ann Riker, Susan Biliecki, chairperson, Joan Stell, Teresa Maioli, recording secretary
Susan called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
In the meeting minutes from December 21, 2010, Don motioned to make a correction:
“A discussion came up about the economic needs of the Village of Sodus. Don feels we
are below average.
To read as follows:
“A discussion came up about the economic needs of the Village of Sodus. Don said that
according to the Wayne County Planning data village incomes are consistently and
substantially lower than in other areas in the County.”
Don motioned to pass the December 21, 2010 meeting minutes as corrected, David
seconded the motion. All aye: motion carried.
Susan did some research and found a website that was very informative, wedcny.org
and would like to try to get Village of Sodus Planning Board info onto this website.
The President of the Wayne County Economic Development Corporation is Peg
Churchill, Don suggested he would like to formally invite her to one of our meetings.
Don motioned to invite Peg Churhill to one of the Village of Sodus Planning Board
meetings, David seconded the motion, All aye: motion carried.
We still need to make up a list of buildings for sale and or for rent in the Village. Mary
Ann has been attempting to work on this list but is finding it difficult to compile a list
because is it hard to determine who owns the vacant buildings. It was suggested that
she try to contact Al Hendrikes, Code Enforcement Officer for the Village of Sodus.
David stated and all agreed that we do not have to wait till we have all property
information to get started on a Village of Sodus Planning Board web site. We can start
with what we have and build from there.
Susan will find out when the Town of Sodus Planning Board has their meetings so
maybe The Village of Sodus Planning Board could attend and have a joint meeting.
A discussion came about with the rail road. Our members would like to see the rail road used more, like as for transportation for people.
David would like to get some digital pictures of the area for the web site, please forward
to him if you may have any.
Joan asked if anyone has any ideas about getting people to be on the Village of Sodus
Planning Board, Susan suggested actively recruiting.
There being no further business, Don motioned to end the meeting, Mary Ann
seconded, all aye, motion carried.
The meeting was closed at 7:50pm.
