Members present: Don O’Neil, David Englert, Mary Ann Riker, Susan Bilecki, chairperson, Joan Stell, Teresa Maioli, recording secretary
Susan called the meeting to order at 7:10pm.
May 3, 2011 meeting minutes; the only change should be:
“Mary Ann seconed” should read: “Mary Ann seconded”.
Mary Ann motioned to accept the May 3, 2011 meeting minutes as corrected, Joan seconded, all aye, motion carried.
Don has a friend, Pete Thurston that wants to move his business from Rochester to Sodus. He is looking for about 50,000 sq ft of space for his factory/machine shop. The Village Planning Board suggests that Pete should get together a list of needs and wants, then attend a Village Planning Board meeting. Don suggests the Village Planning Board take a tour of his existing business location to better understand his business needs. It was also recommended that Peg Churchill be contacted to see what incentives exist, if any, for the area.
David and Susan will do some research to see what is available in the area to rent or purchase to possibly show Pete Thurston.
Joan was questioning the application when residents need to approach the Zoning Board. We would like to see a follow up check list to be used for applications and for monthly building reports.
Susan will check with Amy D’Angelo about if there is a “general” updated form.
David will speak with Mary Jane Mumby about putting our meeting minutes on the Sodus Chamber of Commerce web site.
Joan motioned to send the changes for the Peddlers Permit to the Village of Sodus Board , Don seconded the motion, all aye, motion carried. Teresa will send a letter by the second Tuesday in June.

Dear Village of Sodus Board Members,
It was brought to our attention that you requested that we review Chapter 71 “Licensed Occupations” of the Village of Sodus Code Book. We are requesting to revise 71-3.D.
It currently reads:
The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to or affect any bona fide tax –exempt, educational, cultural or governmental institution or organization; provided, however, that the burden of establishing the exemption shall be on the organization or institution claiming such exemption.
The proposed revision should read:
The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to or affect any bona fide tax –exempt, educational, cultural, civic or governmental institution or organization or its members when engaged in official activities; provided, however, that the burden of establishing the exemption shall be on the organization or institution claiming such exemption.

It was discussed The Village Planning Board would like to change the number of members from 7 to 5 with one alternate. This will be discussed at a later date.
Joan motioned to close the meeting, Mary Ann seconded, all aye, motion carried.
